ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) - UCF men's soccer junior Romario Williams was selected as one of 32 players to the 2014 Men's MAC Hermann Trophy Watch List on Wednesday. The watch list was revealed during the 2014 NSCAA College Soccer Review Show on NSCAATV.com.

The MAC Hermann Trophy is the highest individual award in intercollegiate soccer, awarded annually by the Missouri Athletic Club to the top male and female college soccer athletes in the United States. The NSCAA NCAA Division I All-America Committee compiled the list by analyzing the returning All-America and All-Region players.

"This is a tremendous honor for Romario to be recognized as one of the top players for this prestigious award," said head coach Bryan Cunningham. "He put in a lot of hard work during the spring and it is going to be exciting to see him play this fall."

Williams was honored as the 2013 The American Offensive Player of the Year, leading the Knights to a third-place finish in the league with a 4-1-3 mark and 8-5-5 overall record. The Kingston, Jamaica, native recorded 10 goals on 21 shots on net, while scoring the game-winning marker in six contests.

He was selected to the NSCAA All-Northeast Region First Team and honored as one of 30 finalists for the Soccer News Net College Boot Award. Williams also went 3-for-3 on penalty kicks.

Former Knights named to the Herman Trophy Watch List prior to the start of a campaign are Warren Creavalle (2011) and Eric Vasquez (2003).

UConn, a foe in The American, has a pair of players on the watch list in forward Larin Cyle and midfielder Beso Adria.

Towards the end of the regular season, NSCAA members will vote on their top choices and the list will be narrowed down to the top 15 players. College soccer fans have an opportunity to participate in the selection process by voting for their favorite semifinalist in November at the MAC Herman Trophy website.

From that pool, three finalists will be chosen for the award. The winner is set to be announced in January.
