ORLANDO, Fla. (www.ucfathletics.com) - Just two days and four practices after opening preseason camp, the UCF men's soccer team will face an opponent when the Knights host Rollins College Friday night in an exhibition match at the UCF Soccer Complex. Kickoff for the first of their three exhibitions is slated for 7:00 p.m.
With 22 newcomers added to the program for 2008, second-year head coach Bryan Cunningham will immediately get a chance to evaluate how his additions perform in game situations. The Knights will also host exhibition games against St. Leo on Tuesday, August 19, and the College of Charleston on Saturday, August 23.
"We are excited to open up the 2008 preseason with a quality team like Rollins," said Cunningham. "The players have worked extremely hard the last two days and I look forward to evaluating them tomorrow night."
UCF gets the 2008 season underway with five consecutive games away from their home field. The Knights open the season against two Big Ten opponents at the Ohio State Bert and Iris Wolstein Classic in Columbus, Ohio. The squad begins with a 5:00 p.m. tilt against Penn State on Friday, August 29. Two days later, UCF will square off against the host Buckeyes at 2:30 p.m.
All home matches at the UCF Soccer Complex are free to the public this season. The Knights will have a total of seven games on their home field, including the opener against Memphis on Saturday, September 20, at 7:00 p.m.
