ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) - After three scrimmages in Orlando and three-straight regular-season home matches to open the year, UCF will play away from home for the first time this weekend when the Knights participate in the Stihl Classic in Norfolk, Va. UCF will meet William & Mary Friday at 4:30 p.m. before facing host Old Dominion Sunday at 2:30 p.m.
The Knights are 1-1-1 after a tough loss to North Florida Sunday. The Ospreys scored 26 seconds into overtime to escape the UCF Soccer Complex with a 1-0 win. In three contests, UCF has recorded 39 shots, compared to 24 for its opponents.
"There are a lot of things we need to be focused on," UCF head coach Bryan Cunningham said of the trip to Virginia. "The big thing is dealing with adversity and coming off a loss and playing two great opponents who are going to be fresh and ready. We need to be ready for that challenge."
William & Mary is 1-2-0 this season. This past weekend, the Tribe picked up a 4-0 victory at Old Dominion. The Monarchs are 1-1 this season and will host No. 2 Creighton Friday evening.
After the two matches in Virginia, the Knights will return home for a pair of contests. They will host local rival Stetson on Sept. 18 before making their American Athletic Conference debut against No. 7 Louisville on Sept. 21.
