ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) - The men's soccer team will make history Saturday as the Knights will become the first UCF program to compete in an American Athletic Conference league contest when they host No. 11 Louisville. The match at the UCF Soccer Complex will begin at 7 p.m.
The contest will serve as the first American Athletic Conference league game for any UCF program and along with the Memphis at Cincinnati matchup Saturday evening, one of the first men's soccer conference matches for the league.
The Knights (2-2-2) rolled to an impressive 2-0 victory over visiting Stetson Wednesday. Romario Williams and Alex Marotta both scored for the Knights, who finished with an 11-2 shot advantage. Williams leads UCF with three goals this season.
The Cardinals (3-2-0) will also be making their conference debut and are coming off a 4-2 win over Cal-State Bakersfield Sunday. Last season, Louisville went 14-6-1 and advanced to the Elite Eight of the NCAA Championship.
The league match is the first of eight for the Knights. After facing the Cardinals, UCF will play its next three games on the road.
Season tickets, which include the popular UCF soccer scarf, are still available at UCFKnights.com. On Saturday, tickets will be available outside the soccer complex. Live stats and audio will be available at UCFKnights.com.
UCF students who attend the match and are part of the Knightmare Rewards program will receive 2,000 points. With a valid school ID, UCF students receive free admission to each home match. Click here for more info on the Knightmare Rewards program.
