ORLANDO,Fla. (UCFKnights.com) - The Knights will once again take to the road this week as they continue American Athletic Conference play. UCF (3-4-2,
1-1-0) meets up with No. 17/24 UConn (3-2-3, 0-0-2) this Saturday at 7 p.m.
It marks the second top-25 opponent UCF has had to face during conference play. The Knights dropped their opener to No. 11 Louisville on Sept. 21. The Huskies will be a formidable opponent, as well, as they lead the conference in fewest goals allowed, giving up five goals in eight games.
The Knights head into the game with momentum after notching their first conference win Saturday over the Bearcats of Cincinnati. Following the victory, UCF midfielder Omar Vallejo was named to the American Athletic Conference Weekly Honor Roll. Vallejo had one goal and one assist in the Knights' 2-1 win.
The trip will be a homecoming of sorts for UCF junior Leon Carby, who is a native of West Hartford, Conn. As a prep star, he helped guide Watkinson to two-straight state championships and three-straight conference titles.
UCF has scored seven team goals with six assists this season and have notched three shutouts.
The Knights will return to Orlando for a two-game homestand hosting Memphis in another conference matchup on Oct. 9 at 7 p.m. and Georgia State in a non-conference match scheduled for Oct. 15 at 7 p.m.
