ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) - After concluding a three-game road swing with an impressive draw at No. 17/24 UConn over the weekend, the UCF men's soccer team will host Memphis for an American Athletic Conference contest Wednesday at 7 p.m. at the UCF Soccer Complex. The match is the first at home for the Knights (3-4-3, 1-1-1 The American) since Sept. 21.
On Saturday, UCF recorded two first-half goals and then held on for a 2-2 draw at UConn in front of over 5,000 fans. Romario Williams and Omar Vallejo scored for the Knights, who became the first squad since 2009 to record more than one goal against the Huskies in Storrs.
Head coach Bryan Cunningham's squad has a two-match unbeaten streak, having topped host Cincinnati, 2-1, on Sept. 28.
Williams added an assist against UConn and leads the Knights with five goals and 11 points. Goalkeeper Sebastian Evers returned to the UCF lineup after missing five games and stopped five shots Saturday.
The match against the Tigers is the first of two-straight games at home for the Knights. UCF will play its final non-league contest next Tuesday against Georgia State.
UCF and Memphis both competed in Conference USA before moving to The American.
The Tigers are 7-3-1 overall and 2-1-0 in league play.
Tickets to the contest will be available outside the soccer complex prior to the match. Live statistics and video will be available at UCFKnights.com.
