ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) – The No. 3 UCF men's soccer team defeated No. 6 seed Memphis, 2-1, in the opening round of the American Athletic Conference Championship and will advance to the semifinals on Friday in Frisco, Texas against No. 2 seed UConn. The match is set for 7:30 p.m. Central.

The Knights secured a spot in the semis after an exciting overtime over the Tigers on Saturday. UCF sealed the victory when freshman Abdi Yusuf scored his first goal of the season in the 7th minute of the sudden-victory overtime.

UCF is now 8-4-5 overall and finished the regular-season at 4-1-3 in league play.

Also advancing to the semifinals are No. 8 Rutgers and No. 5 USF, who will play each other on Friday at 5:00 p.m.

The winner of both matches will play in the title game, set for Sunday at 1 p.m. Match information will be available on UCFKnights.com.
