ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) – Deshorn Brown logged an impressive freshman campaign in his first season with the Colorado Rapids, and Major League Soccer took note when it announced finalists of the league’s year-end awards on Wednesday.
Brown, a former UCF men’s soccer standout, is a front-runner for the league's Rookie of the Year award. He started 24 games for the Rapids, totaling a team-leading 10 goals to go along with four assists. The MLS rookie is also a rising star for Jamaica, recently earning a pair of call-ups to the national team.
The MLS Awards finalists were determined by the polling of three voting groups: players, clubs (coaches, technical directors, etc.), and media. The AT&T Rookie of the Year will be announced on Monday, Nov. 25.
