ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - In fall of 2008, Joe Delinks (Falmouth, Mass.) headed south to begin his UCF career. As a freshman, Delinks recorded six singles wins during the spring campaign. In the classroom, he earned a spot on the Conference USA Commissioner's Academic Honor Roll.

Delinks arrived at UCF with an impressive prep résumé. He concluded his high school career with a 72-0 singles mark. As a senior, he went 31-0 and captured the Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association individual championship.

Delinks recently shared his thoughts on why he elected to attend UCF.

"I chose UCF because I loved the campus, especially the new basketball arena and the football stadium," he said. "I also wanted to go to a school in the south because I was tired of cold New England weathers."

Orlando's average annual temperature is 72.4 degrees, so it is no surprise that Delinks is happy with his decision to move to Florida.

"My favorite part of UCF is the weather. I really like practicing outside everyday." Delinks, who selected UCF over Michigan State, credits head coach Bobby Cashman with improving his play on the court.

"I felt that the coaching and training at UCF would make me a better player," Delinks said. "I feel that my game has improved drastically this past year after playing for UCF."
