ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) - UCF men's tennis rising senior Francesc Aulina extended his excellence to the classroom, earning his second consecutive ITA Scholar Athlete honor.
"It's a great honor for Kiku (Aulina) to be recognized as an ITA Scholar Athlete for the second straight year," head coach Bobby Cashman said. "He was able to excel in the classroom and on the court, and was also voted the team MVP."
With a 4.00 grade-point average in both the fall and spring semesters, Aulina earned a spot on the President's Honor Roll during his junior campaign. The finance major from Barcelona, Spain, also turned in the best singles record for UCF, going 14-5 on the season and notching wins over nationally ranked No. 27 Penn State, No. 55 Miami, No. 64 Buffalo and No. 68 Georgia State. He was one of seven student-athletes to earn all-conference honors for singles play by the American Athletic Conference.
Letterwinners who have been enrolled at their present school for at least two semesters and have a grade point average of at least 3.50 receive the award. Aulina was recognized as an ITA Scholar Athlete following the 2012-13 season as well and has a 3.822 cumulative GPA entering the 2014-15 academic year.
