ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) - UCF incoming freshman Jesse Flores excelled at the 2013 Canada Summer Games earlier this week. At the event in Sherbrooke, Quebec, he was a member of Ontario's squad that captured the team gold and also claimed the silver medal in doubles play with partner Dylan Bednarcyzk.

The Canada Games is the nation's largest multi-sport event for amateur athletes and is modeled after the Olympics. The event takes place every two years, rotating between summer and winter games.

Team tennis competition featured eight players (four males, four females) and Flores and Bednarczyk clinched the gold for Ontario by topping Patrick Hall and Felix Fan of British Columbia, 6-3, 3-6, 6-1. The same day, the British Columbia duo held on for a 6-3, 2-6, 6-4 win over Flores and Bednarcyzk to win the doubles championship.
