2014-15 Men's Tennis Schedule
ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) – The UCF men’s tennis team released the 2014-15 schedule on Wednesday, as announced by head coach Bobby Cashman.
The Knights have carried on the tradition of scheduling tough opponents with the latest lineup. Nine of the spring opponents finished last season ranked among the top 75 teams nationally, including five opponents that were ranked in the top 40.
The Knights will spend the fall campaign on the road, playing in six tournaments away from campus. UCF opens the fall season split between the Bedford Cup in Jacksonville and the Southern Intercollegiate in Athens, Ga. After back-to-back weekends of competition at Rollins College and the ITA Regionals in October, the Knights split the roster between the Disney Tournament and Florida Gulf Coast Tournament to close out the fall portion of the season.
UCF opens the spring season with a tournament at Florida State that features eight ranked teams before returning to the UCF Tennis Complex to host Florida Atlantic and Mississippi in mid-January. Road trips to Florida Gulf Coast and defending American Athletic Conference Tournament champions USF break up the Knights’ home competition.
February’s home slate includes New Mexico State and Mercer. The Knights travel down I-4 to face USF to open the month of March before hosting Butler, Western Michigan and George Washington.
The Knights will close out the regular season with a six-match homestand that begins in late March and includes Florida A&M, Tulsa, Drexel, Troy, Middle Tennessee and Memphis. Fellow American Athletic Conference opponents Tulsa and Memphis bookend the final stretch of regular season matches, and both the Golden Hurricane and the Tigers advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament in 2014.
The American Athletic Conference Championship takes place April 16-19 at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center on Tulsa’s campus.
