ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) - The UCF men's tennis team annually plays one of the most challenging schedules in the country and 2014 will be no different. Head coach Bobby Cashman's Knights will play eight teams this spring who finished last season ranked among the top-75 squads nationally.
The Knights will play 12 matches at the UCF Tennis Complex, starting with the Jan. 19 season opener against Miami. Highlights of the home slate include a seven-match homestand that starts in late February and includes contests against North Florida, Georgia State, Tulane and Penn State.
"This is an extremely challenging schedule and our team will face strong opponents each and every match," Cashman said. "The schedule will give us numerous opportunities to face ranked teams and prepare our team for the conference tournament."
The Knights will conclude the regular season with matches in Tennessee against Memphis and Middle Tennessee State and then remain in the state for the inaugural American Athletic Conference Championship in Memphis, April 17-20.
In addition to its home matches, UCF will also play three road contests in Florida, visiting Florida Gulf Coast, Florida Atlantic and USF.
