ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) - Led by upperclassmen Matthew Gladstone and Francesc Aulina, the Knights are set to close out their fall season starting Thursday at the USTA Clay Court Invitational at Disney, hosted by Florida State. The tournament will be played at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex through Sunday and will feature players from the nation's top units.
UCF is also slated to take part in the FGCU Fall Invitational, scheduled to run from Friday to Sunday.
Six Knights will partake in the action at the USTA Clay Court Invitational this weekend and will face off against teams including Florida State, Southern California, Tennessee, Illinois, Pepperdine, Florida, Tulsa and Notre Dame. Joining Gladstone and Aulina will be sophomores Amar Hromic and Jose Sangroniz, and freshmen Jesse Flores and Inaki Espindola.
The clay court tournament is only in its second year and will showcase top talent on ESPN 3 with 10 hours of live coverage.
Finishing off the 2013 fall campaign will be the remainder of the Knights at the three-day tournament hosted by Florida Gulf Coast. The tourney will use a "compass draw," guaranteeing every player at least three matches during the weekend. Scheduled to join the Knights and the Eagles include players from Miami, Barry, FAU, Arkansas and Boston College. Chris Barrus and Reece Acree, two freshmen, will represent the Knights at the event.
The Knights aim to cap off a successful fall season with solid play this weekend and will make their return to the courts in January at the UCF Quad Tournament.
