ORLANDO, Fla. - Shelby Weber and Celeste Hudson led UCF with 12 points apiece as the Golden Knights defeated Jacksonville, 68-49. The Black and Gold improved to 13-7 on the season and 11-2 in the Atlantic Sun, while the Dolphins fell to 4-15 on the season and 1-11 in conference play.

Weber was 4-for-7 from the field and 4-for-4 from the free throw line, while Hudson was 5-for-6 from the field and 2-for-3 from the three-point line. Francine Houston and Keunta Miles were also in double-digits for the Golden Knights with 11 points each. Ali Roberts led UCF in rebounds with nine while also leading in assists with six. Weber had a team-high five blocks on the evening, while Hudson had three steals.

Hudson opened the game with three-pointer 36 seconds in only to have Jacksonville's Sheena Carpenter answer with a jumper. The Golden Knights held onto the lead throughout the entire game going up by as many as 21 in the first half.

The Black and Gold outscored the Dolphins 32-11 in the first 20 minutes. Hudson, Houston and Miles each led the team in points with seven, while Hudson and Lashaunda Slade led the team in rebounds with four. Weber had four of her five blocks in the first half.

In the second half, UCF was up by as many as 35 points before Jacksonville started to chip away. The Golden Knights outscored the Dolphins 28-14 in the first 12 minutes of the second half to put UCF up, 60-25. During that time, all nine players had a part in the 28 points with Hudson leading the way with five points.

Rebecca Montz led Jacksonville with 11 points, while Carpenter and Nakina Alford each had 10 points. Ashley Stinson led the Dolphins with seven rebounds, while Carpenter had four assists.

 

 

UCF returns to action Thursday night when they play Georgia State in Atlanta at 6 p.m. The Golden Knights return home on Thursday, February 17 when they host Gardner-Webb in game one of a doubleheader with the men's basketball team, who will take on Mercer at 7:30.
