LAS VEGAS, Nev. - Celeste Hudson led the Golden Knights with 22 points when UCF defeated UNLV 60-58 in the season open. This was the first meeting between the two teams. The last time that UCF won their season open was in 2002 when they defeated Monmouth.

Hudson scored 12 points in the first half while playing in 17 minutes. In the second half, Hudson stepped it up and scored 10 more to give her the 22 points while only playing 16 more minutes.

Senior Takira Allen had 10 points and five rebounds before she fouled out with less than 30 seconds to go. Senior Ali Roberts was second on the team in points with 11 while grabbing four rebounds.

The five starters, Hudson, Allen, Roberts, Shayla Smith and Shelby Weber, combined for 49 points, 28 rebounds, 10 assists and four steals.

Off of the bench, sophomore Francine Houston scored nine points while grabbing three defensive rebounds. Sophomore Keuta Miles came in and two points while grabbing three rebounds.

The Golden Knights fought a hard battle against a very aggressive UNLV Rebel squad. The Rebels were led by RanDee Henry who recorded a double-double by scoring 17 points while grabbing 10 rebounds. Latosha Pace was second on the team with 11 points while grabbing two rebounds.

The Knights return to action Monday night when they take on the Northern Arizona Lumberjacks at 9:05 p.m. eastern time in Flagstaff, Arizona. The first home game for the Black and Gold is Friday, November 27 at noon when they take on Southern Miss.
