Senior Takira Allen led UCF with 18 points in the 52-46 loss to Northern Arizona. The Golden Knights (1-1, 0-0 Atlantic Sun) fought hard but were unable to hold onto their lead for the victory over the Lumberjacks (1-1, 0-0 Big Sky).
Allen scored 10 of her 18 points in the first half going 5-for-8 on field goals while the other eight came in the second half when she went 2-for-2 on free throws and 3-for-5 on field goals. Senior Ali Roberts led the team in blocks with three while scoring nine points and grabbing two rebounds.
The starting five, Allen, Roberts, and juniors Shelby Weber, Shayla Smith and Celeste Hudson, scored 34 of the 46 points while grabbing 15 rebounds and blocking four shots.
Off the bench, sophomore Jeralynn Campbell led the Knights with seven rebounds while scoring four points in 11 minutes of action. Sophomore Francine Houston played in 12 minutes and grabbed five rebounds.
Alyssa Wahl who scored 14 points, all of which came in the second half of the game, led the Northern Arizona Lumberjacks. Nicky Eason led the Lumberjacks in rebounds with six while scoring six points of her own.
The Knights return to action in their home opener against Southern Miss on Friday, November 26 at noon. Tickets for Friday's game are still available. Adults are $5. Youth age 17 and under and seniors age 55 and older pay $3. Children under five and UCF students with a valid UCF student I.D. are admitted free.
