ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - The UCF women's basketball team hopes to get back on track in its televised home matchup against Marshall Thursday at 7 p.m. UCF's first televised home game in two years will air on Fox SportSouth and around the country on Fox Sports affiliates.
Although the overall series is tied, 8-8, the Knights (7-14, 1-6) have won five of the last six meetings against the Thundering Herd (7-13, 1-6).
Several Knights are making impressions in the school record books as of late. Senior Gevenia Carter broke onto the program's top-10 3-point field goal leaders list at East Carolina by netting her 69th trey. She needs two more to tie for ninth all-time. She also needs three steals to break onto UCF's top-10 career leaders list.
Sophomore Stephanie Taylor's 32 blocks this season currently ranks 10th on the program's single-season leaders list, and she needs one more to tie for ninth. Fellow post player Erika Jones needs just one more rebound to bring her career tally to 578, which would place her among UCF's top-10 leaders.
Marshall heads to Orlando fresh off its first conference win of the season. The Herd currently lead C-USA in 3-point field goals (5.6 per game) thanks in part to leading scorer Shay Weaver, who is the league's queen of 3-point field goals with 2.6 per game.
Thursday will serve as Faculty and Staff Night, presented by the College of Sciences. All UCF faculty and staff who attend will receive discounted tickets at $3 per person.
All tickets are currently available by calling (407) UCF-1000 or by visiting UCFAthletics.com. The game will re-air on Fox Sports Florida on Friday at 9 a.m. and noon.
