EDITORS NOTE: Aisha Patrick's blog, Patty's Place 10, gives Knight fans an inside look at the UCF women's basketball program, both on and off the court. Hailing from nearby Rockledge, Patrick has started all but one game in her career with the Knights and helped her team to the 2009 Conference USA Tournament championship. Twice snubbed from the C-USA All-Defensive Team, the team's shutdown defender will use the below space to sound off on all things about herself and the UCF women's basketball program as they prepare to pursue another championship in 2010-11.
Hello Knights fans,
Sorry it took me so long to get back with you all. This summer has been pretty busy, but I hope the below gives you a good idea of what the UCF women's basketball team has been up to so far this summer.
Summer A success: Summer school has been a success for your Knights and we had an overall team GPA of a 3.0. Congratulations to all those who were in summer A. I would like to welcome our new freshmen - Aarika Judge, Erika Jones, Leo Montalvo and Sarah Green - to our program. We are now in summer B, which means all of our players have returned including our four freshman, and we are all working hard to bring our team GPA up even higher.
June Madness: Enough about our grades. Let's talk about the fun stuff. June has been a busy month for us. We enjoyed camps with the little ones and formed friendships that will last a lifetime. On top of camp we were juggling class, weights and study hall. I would like to give Tracy Prosser credit for making us as strong, fast, and in shape as we are. If it wasn't for her we wouldn't have been able to move those freshmen into their dorms. It was a workout helping the freshmen take their things up to the towers. It was definitely all fun though. I think the hardest person to move in was Aarika Judge. She had so much stuff her family made two trips, but we now have a 55-inch TV in our living room lol.
Congrats to our coaching staff: - Although we had so much fun in June, we had to do it without our head coach Joi Williams, who was in Colorado coaching the USA Basketball U-18 Women's National Team. Congratulations to Coach and her victory as they destroyed every team they played in Colorado and won gold. I would also like to congratulate Mrs. Theresa and Coach Brown for their newborn son, Carter Brown, the newest addition to our Knight family. Congratulations to Coach Locke for being promoted to the recruiting coordinator of your knights!
Congrats to the players: - I would like to congratulate Ashia Kelly, who will be representing your Knights in SAAC at a conference in Dallas Texas. She was chosen for her leadership and hard work. Congrats Kelly, keep up the good work. I also would like to congratulate Jelly Mealing, Jelisa Caldwell and Racine Davis for their hard work and the internships they have done. They have been giving back to the community and representing UCF well.
As you can see, your Knights have been working hard and having fun! I am sorry I haven't been updating you all on the regular, but now that we are up to date, I will do my part and stay on top of things to allow you to follow us in our journeys through the good and bad! Stay tuned Knight Fans!
Until next time,
