ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - Although only a sophomore, Andrea Hines is one of the key returning players to the UCF women's basketball team this season.
As a point guard in her freshman season she started 18 of 27 games, so it's safe to say she's gotten a feel for college basketball.
"I'm more knowledgeable in the game and still learning," Hines said.
She still may be learning, but with a team-high and career-high 14 points against Florida State and 10 rebounds against conference opponent Memphis in 2011-12, she proved she has what it takes to earn playing time.
As one of four returning starters, Hines can use her experience to take more of a leadership role this season and help promote team chemistry among the new additions to the team.
Chemistry changes each season with new players are added every year, but Hines thinks the Knights are getting along as a team should.
"It's been wonderful," she said, "We've been playing since summer so we're getting a feel for each other."
Each player has her own goals for the 2012-2013 season. Like any athlete, Hines wants to continue improving her performance.
"I hope to have a strong season and have a better season than last year as a whole," Hines said.
