ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) - The UCF women's basketball team resumes its travels this Saturday to face Charlotte at 7 p.m.
The Knights will play in their fourth state this month. UCF's 4-0 record is the program's best start since 1984. Back then, UCF rattled off seven-straight wins to begin the year, which stands as the best start in school history.
Although these two teams have played four times since 1985, the Knights are making their first trip to Charlotte this weekend, marking a homecoming for one of their own.
UCF junior Stephanie Taylor, who is coming off a career-high 14-point performance at Georgia State, grew up roughly 16 miles outside of Charlotte in Indian Trail, N.C. She used to attend basketball camps at Charlotte and is familiar with the 49ers' leading scorer Ny Hammonds, whom she played alongside in AAU and against during high school.
Charlotte advanced to the WNIT Sweet 16 last year after putting together the second-best campaign in school history (26-6), finishing second in the Atlantic 10 regular season with a 13-1 mark.
The 49ers have dropped three in a row - all on the road - after winning their season opener Nov. 8 against Liberty at home.
There are 15 home games on UCF's slate in 2013-14, including contests against national champion UConn and national runner-up Louisville during league play. Season tickets, which start at only $30 for adults and $15 for kids, are available today by calling (407) UCF-1000 or by visiting UCFKnights.com.
