ORLANDO, Fla. ( - The UCF women's basketball team is wrapping up its non-conference schedule on Saturday afternoon when it takes on Iona at 1 p.m.

It will mark UCF's last game at home before the New Year and its final test before embarking on its inaugural season in one of the nation's premiere basketball leagues, the American Athletic Conference.

With seven wins already, the Knights (7-3) have matched the 2007 and 2010 squads for the most wins before conference play during the Joi Williams era. Only one team -- 1985 -- has posted eight non-conference wins in UCF's 29-year history as a Division I program.

UCF's doubleheader with the men's team, who hosts Rio Grande at 4 p.m., is the final of three this year at CFE Arena. The Knights own a 6-0 record in doubleheaders under the direction of Donnie Jones and Joi Williams.

The Knights head into Saturday's matchup looking to maintain their perfect record (2-0) over Iona in the first meeting between the two teams since 2010.

Iona, who reached the MAAC Championship game last season and qualified for the WNIT, is riding a five-game win streak. The Gaels are led by a powerful duo in the 2013 MAAC Player of the Year, Damika Martinez, and Freshman of the Year, Joy Adams.

Adams, now a sophomore forward, is an Orlando native and was the 2012 Central Florida Athlete of the Year as a standout for Evans High School.

As the nation's third-leading scorer this season with 26.7 points per game, Martinez highlights an impressive list of Gaels who are relevant in the NCAA statistical rankings. Sabrina Jeridore is the national leader in blocked shots per game; Adams ranks seventh for rebounds per game and 10th for double-doubles; and Haley D'Angelo is also 10th for assist-to-turnover ratio.
