Kevin McPherson joins UCF for his first season as an assistant coach. He will help with all aspects of coach Nick Clinard's men's program and Emilee Klein's women's program, including coaching, scheduling and recruiting.
This will be the first collegiate coaching job for McPherson, who recently graduated from Belmont Abbey College (Belmont, N.C.) with a bachelor's degree in sports management.
While in school, he was a member and captain of the golf team from 2004-06, and was selected to the CVAC (Carolina Virginia Athletic Conference) All-Conference Team. Before venturing to Belmont Abbey College, McPherson played golf from 2002-04 for Brevard Community College.
"We are excited to bring Kevin on board," Clinard said. "His knowledge and background in golf will be a great addition to our program. We want to continue to recruit the best players and then develop them into even better players and Kevin will allow us to do that."
A native of Conway, S.C., McPherson has served in numerous positions on the golf course during his career. Prior to his collegiate playing career, he was an assistant golf professional at the International Club of Myrtle Beach (2000-02) and at Burning Ridge Golf Club in Myrtle Beach (1998-99). While at Burning Ridge, McPherson created the junior golf program sponsored by Myrtle Beach Junior Golf.
"I am really excited to be joining the golf programs at UCF," McPherson said. "Coach Clinard and coach Klein have everything on the rise here. This is a great place to be and it is an exciting time to be a part of UCF Athletics."
