ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) – Coming off of their fifth-straight top-three finish, including wins at the Florida Shootout and UCF Challenge, the UCF women’s golf team set another school record with its rise to No. 15 in the NCAA Golfstat rankings. At their last four events, the Knights have also had several top-three individual finishers, with Junior Fanny Cnops taking medalist honors at the UCF Challenge.
UCF took runner-up honors at both the Central District Invitational and the Las Vegas Collegiate Showdown. The team also finished third at the Edean Ihlanfeldt Invitational this season.
UCF head coach Emily Marron has set high goals for the team but keeps them focused on one event, one round at a time. She believes if the team stays focused on their goals, the rankings will take care of themselves. The Knights have faced-off against talented competition all year, including No. 14 Vanderbilt and No. 18 Florida.
“This team is so tough and they never give up,” Marron said. “They continue to turn in great performances under pressure and this experience will help them down the road. I keep telling them we are preparing now for the post-season in May.”
