ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) -- The No. 16-ranked UCF women's golf team was one of just two to turn in rounds of even par in the third and final round of the LSU Tiger Golf Classic Saturday afternoon. The Knights rode that even-par round to a runner-up finish in the tournament.
No. 4 Arkansas -- the other team that was at even par in the third round -- was the tournament champion. Arkansas put together a three-round total of 882, edging the Knights by eight strokes, after they scored an 890.
The Knights, who were 26-over for the tournament, finished in front of 13 other squads in the 15-team event. Included in those 13 teams were No. 17 LSU, No. 29 Kentucky, No. 33 Tulane and No. 38 Denver.
Individually, Knights freshman Ashley Holder tied for medalist honors after 54 holes of play. A three-way playoff was held between Holder, Arkansas' Gaby Lopez and Madelene Sagstrom of LSU. Lopez took the playoff on the first hole. Holder, Lopez and Sagstrom were the only three golfers in the tournament to finish under par, as each turned in scores of -3 for the event.
Monifa Sealy was tied for 12th, turning in a 7-over total. Kristine Odaiyar (+11) was tied for 20th, while Fanny Cnops was tied for 33rd (+14). Kaitlyn Price came in tied for 37th (+15).
