Orlando, Fla. (www.ucfathletics.com) - The UCF women's golf team will enter the final round of the Badger Invitational in third place after posting a 607 (+31) in the opening 36 holes of the tournament on Sunday. The Knights opened the day with a 306 (+18) in the first round, then equaled tournament leader Oklahoma with the second-round low team score of 301 (+13).

The Sooners (594, +18) have an 11-shot advantage on Iowa State (605, +29), who is just two strokes ahead of the Knights in second place.

Sophomore Sara Hurwitch (Potomac Falls, Va.) was a big part of the second round push as she carded a one-under par score of 71 after opening the tournament with a 77 (+5). Her two-round total of 148 (+4), which included four birdies, has her in a five-way tie for second, one shot behind Iowa State's Kendra Hanson (147, +3).

True freshman Jessy Tang (Orlando, Fla.) is tied for 13th after posting a 152 (+8) in her debut with the Knights. Tang led the team with a 75 (+3) in the opening round and added a 77 (+5) in the second round. She had two birdies in each of her respective rounds.

Tang's classmates, Katie Detlefsen (Eagan, Minn.) and Liz Alger (Tequesta, Fla.) also made their debuts for the Knighs as both turned in two-round totals of 154 (+10).

Hurwitch, who is the reigning C-USA Freshman of the Year, is the first Knight to break par in competition since Ashley Grier fired a 70 (-2) in the 2006 Conference USA Championship.

The Knights will conclude their season-opening tournament on Monday with 18 more holes in the tournament being hosted by the University of Wisconsin.
