ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) – UCF freshman Ashley Holder was named the American Women's Golf Player of the Week Wednesday after leading her team at the LSU Tiger Golf Classic. Holder is a native of Orlando and a Lake Nona High School alumnae.

Holder turned in a score of -3, tied for medalist honors and was one of three players under par in a field of 84. She played 36 holes on Saturday due to inclement weather and led UCF in scoring all three days. The Knights finished second in a field that included No. 4 Arkansas, No. 17 LSU, No. 29 Kentucky, No. 33 Tulane and No. 38 Denver.

This is the second honor for Holder from the American Athletic Conference. She was named the league’s Golfer of the Month for November, in addition to this weekly award.

The UCF women’s golf team is in action again April 7-8 at the Web.com Invitational in Jacksonville, Fla. That event will be the final tuneup for the Knights before they host the American Athletic Conference Championship at Hammock Beach from April 19-22.
