ORLANDO, Fla. - The UCF women's golf team has been selected to compete in the NCAA East Regional for the second year in a row. The event will be held from May 7-9 at the University of Florida's Mark Bostick Golf Course in Gainesville.

This will mark UCF's eighth appearance all-time in the NCAA Regionals and the second year in a row that it has qualified. UCF was also selected for NCAA Regionals in 1995, 1996, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002 and 2008, advancing to the NCAA finals in 1996. Last spring the East Regional was held in Athens, Ga. and UCF placed 17th.

"I am just so excited and very proud of the team," UCF head coach Emilee Klein said. "It is nice that we have an opportunity to play and hopefully now we will play well enough to continue on to the Finals. The girls worked hard all year and this will give us some confidence to know that it is paying off."

Once again, UCF faced one of the nation's most difficult schedules and will hopes to reap the benefits with an NCAA regional field that will feature plenty of familiar competition. The Knights capped off the 2008-09 regular season by placing second at the Conference USA Championship, the best finish in school history. The Knights will be joined in the East Regional by conference-mates Tulane and East Carolina.

UCF is one of 21 teams in the East Regional. In order of seed, the teams competing in Gainesville will be: Virginia, Auburn, Alabama, North Carolina, Duke, Denver, Tennessee, Vanderbilt, Georgia, Tulane, Florida, East Carolina, Mississippi, South Carolina, Furman, College of Charleston, Florida State, UCF, Coastal Carolina, Stetson and Jackson State.

The top eight teams and two individuals from each of the three regional events will compete at the NCAA Championships at Caves Valley Golf Club in Owings Mills, Md. May 19-22.
