ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) – The No. 23 UCF women’s golf team held the lead after two rounds at last year’s Las Vegas Collegiate Showdown. The Knights eventually settled for a runner-up finish in the event.
But head coach Emily Marron said her squad is looking forward to another shot at the event this year. Ashley Holder, Fanny Cnops, Robyn Doig, Kaitlyn Price and Monifa Sealy will take part for the Knights, while Paola Robles will take part as an individual.
“It’s always nice to go back to a tournament you’ve played before,” Marron said. “We have three of our starters who played there last year and that should be an advantage. Last year, we had a shot at winning this event and came up a bit short, so we’re excited to have another chance at it.”
UCF will be the highest-ranked team in the field at the Las Vegas Collegiate Showdown, but there will be good competition in the 17-team field. No. 34 Denver, No. 37 Wisconsin, No. 51 UNLV and No. 64 Minnesota highlight the field, along with the Knights.
“The team has had a good fall season and we want to finish on a high note out in the desert,” Marron said.
The Stallion Mountain Golf Club will host the tournament. The course will play at 6,230 yards with a par of 72. Tee times Sunday and Monday will be at 10:30 a.m. ET, while Tuesday’s round will begin at 10:45 a.m. ET. Live scoring of the event is available by clicking here.
