ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) - Following October competition, freshman Ashley Holder has been recognized by the American Athletic Conference as its Women's Golf Player of the Month.
Holder had two top-six individual finishes in October, and the Knights twice placed in the top three.
"Ashley is off to a tremendous start in her career here at UCF," Knights head coach Emily Marron said. "Her game is so consistent week in and week out, she can be in contention at every tournament where we tee it up. Ashley is very motivated and has some high goals to accomplish this season. The great thing is she has the game to back it up. We are certainly excited about her future here at UCF."
In tough conditions at the Edean Ihlandfeldt Invitational, Holder's performance was highlighted by a hole-in-one en route to shooting 75-73-74=222 (+6), good for a sixth place finish. At the Las Vegas Collegiate Showdown, Holder shot a 73-67=140(-4) and finished tied for second place. One of just seven golfers to shoot under par in the two-round event, Holder's performance led the Knights into second place.
The Knights wrapped up their fall slate in Las Vegas. They will return to the course in competition on Jan. 27 at the Florida One-Day Shootout in Orlando.
