ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) - The No. 23 UCF women's soccer team was unanimously picked to repeat as champions in the American Athletic Conference Preseason Coaches' Poll on Monday. In addition, sophomore Lena Petermann was deemed the Preseason Offensive Player of the Year alongside UConn forward Rachel Hill.

Petermann and senior forward Tatiana Coleman were both named to the Preseason All-Conference Team, with Coleman emerging as one of just two on the list to be a unanimous selection.

"We are very happy for Lena and Tati. It is great to be recognized by our peers, and it is a testament to the success that the team had last season, but we have a lot of work ahead of us to accomplish our goals for this year," UCF head coach Tiffany Roberts Sahaydak said. "We hope our fans enjoy the ride with us."

The Knights, who return eight starters from last year's record-setting team, received nine first place votes. Coaches were not allowed to vote for their own team or players on the ballot.

UCF is coming off a 16-3-4 season that saw a school-record unbeaten streak (18 matches) and the first undefeated conference season (9-0) since 1999. The Knights received a national seed in the NCAA Tournament, which they advanced to for the 18th time overall and the seventh-straight season.

Petermann was the 2013 American Rookie of the Year as well as a first team and all-freshman team selection. She emerged as UCF's third-leading goal scorer (8) and tied for second-leading points scorer (20) by year's end. The Otterndorf, Germany, native is currently starting for her home country in the FIFA U20 Women's World Cup and will compete in the semifinals against France at 7 p.m. on Wednesday.

Coleman received NSCAA all-region and American all-conference laurels in 2013 after serving as UCF's leading goal (10) and points (28) scorer. She was named the American Championships' Most Outstanding Offensive Player after connecting on both of her penalty kicks in thrilling shootouts over USF and Rutgers to clinch the first American league title.

UCF, who is currently ranked No. 23 in the NSCAA preseason poll, was slotted at No. 24 in Monday's TopDrawerSoccer.com's preseason poll. The Knights officially kick off the season Friday at Florida Gulf Coast before holding their home opener Sunday at 1 p.m. against Miami.

Season tickets are now available for $30, good for one-general admission seat to all 2014 regular season home matches. As a bonus, season-ticket holders will also receive a special soccer scarf. The GOLD Pass, which includes one general admission seat for all home men's soccer, women's soccer, volleyball, softball, women's basketball and track & field events, is available for $90.
