Watch Diggs on NSCAA TV

ORLANDO, Fla. ( - UCF senior defender Marissa Diggs was named to the MAC Hermann Watch List on Tuesday. The Rowlett, Texas, native is the third Knight in as many years to be considered for the highest individual award in intercollegiate soccer.

Diggs, a 2012 NSCAA Second Team All-American, is the only student-athlete from the American Athletic Conference to appear on the 31-member list. She joins the elite company of UCF alums and former All-Americans Aline Reis and Tishia Jewell to be named to the list.

The list will be narrowed down by NSCAA members from Division I programs to 15 semifinalists in November. NSCAA member coaches and fans will then vote for their top three choices and the finalists will be announced in December. The winners will be announced at the awards banquet at the Missouri Athletic Club in January.

Diggs was recently named The American's Preseason Defensive Player of the Year. She was the 2012 Conference USA Defensive Player of the Year after anchoring a backline that boasted 15 shutouts in 17 victories. The unit finished the season ranked second nationally for goals against average (.524) and fourth nationally in shutout percentage (.625).

She is a two-time all-conference and all-region first team selection. She earned C-USA Tournament Defensive MVP honors after leading UCF to three-straight shutouts in 2012 to deliver the team's first C-USA Tournament title.

UCF will travel to Honolulu, Hawai'i, for its season opener against Washington on Aug. 23 in the No Ka Oi Tournament.
