ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) - UCF junior Carleigh Williams was named the American Athletic Conference Women's Soccer Defender of the Week on Monday. The Beverly Hills, Fla., native becomes the first Knight to be honored with a weekly award in the new conference.

Williams was named to the No Ka Oi All-Tournament Team after staying strong on the back line to deliver back-to-back shutouts over Washington and host Hawaii. Williams played all 180 minutes of the two victories to help the Knights bring home the championship trophy.

This marks the first career weekly honor for Williams. Senior goalkeeper Lianne Maldonado and junior forward Tatiana Coleman were named to The American honor roll this week.

UCF (2-0) holds its home opener Friday at 6 p.m. against Tennessee.

The soccer scarf is back for season ticket holders. For $30, fans will receive a special scarf, which will serve as one-general admission seat to all 2013 regular season home matches.
