ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) - The UCF women's soccer team checked in at No. 17 in the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA)/Continental Tire national rankings, rising four spots from its preseason standing.

UCF is the only team of the American Athletic Conference in its inaugural season to earn recognition in the NSCAA poll. Defending national champion North Carolina earned the No. 1 slot unanimously, followed by Stanford, Florida State, UCLA and Virginia in the top five.

UCF has appeared in the NSCAA rankings every week since Dec. 6, 2011.

The Knights garnered love in other reputable national polls, bumping up two spots to No. 21 in Soccer America's first regular season standings while just missing TopDrawerSoccer.com's top 25 as the next one in.

Several players were singled out for their play in the season-opening weekend that saw the Knights produce two shutouts over Washington and Hawaii.

Senior defender Marissa Diggs was named to the TopDrawerSoccer.com Team of the Week, joining players from Louisville, UNC, Virigina, Florida, Notre Dame and Wake Forest. UCF forward Tatiana Coleman, who was named the No Ka Oi Tournament's MVP, received a shout-out as an honorable mention on the squad.

A day after being recognized by the American Athletic Conference as the Defender of the Week, junior Carleigh Williams was named as a CollegeSoccer360 Primetime Performer. Williams was one of 11 athletes from programs around the country like Florida, Virginia, Stanford and UNC to be selected.

UCF is set to face Tennessee in its home opener Friday at 6 p.m. at the UCF Soccer Complex. The men's soccer team will match up against Florida Atlantic following the conclusion of the women's game.

The soccer scarf is back for season ticket holders. For $30, fans will receive a special scarf, which will serve as one-general admission seat to all 2013 regular season home matches. The GOLD Pass, which includes one general admission seat for all home men's soccer, women's soccer, volleyball, softball, women's basketball and track & field events, is available for $90.
