ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) - The UCF women's soccer team returns to Orlando riding a five-game unbeaten streak in time to kick off a four-match homestand Sunday at 6 p.m. against Florida Gulf Coast. The contest will mark the Knights' final non-conference test as they gear up for their first season as a member of the American Athletic Conference.
The Knights (6-2-1) are fresh off Thursday's double-overtime 1-1 tie at No. 10 Georgetown. UCF was the first team to score on the Hoyas since Aug. 30 as well as the first squad to steal a result in Washington D.C. since October 2011.
Junior Tatiana Coleman netted her seventh goal of the season in the contest to claim the top spot among the American Athletic Conference's leading goal scorers.
UCF topped Florida Gulf Coast, 4-0, when these two teams last met in August 2012 in Fort Myers.
FGCU (5-2-1) is the defending Atlantic Sun regular season and tournament champion. They are led by Atlantic Sun Coach of the Year Jim Blankenship, who started the program in 2007.
The Eagles return eight starters from 2012, including two all-conference first team selections junior Shannen Wacker and sophomore Ally Kasun. Freshman Tabby Tindell has made an immediate impact with a team-best seven goals so far this season.
