ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - For the seventh-consecutive week, the UCF women's soccer team (9-2-1, 3-1 Conference USA) was named among the nation's top-10 teams in the country on Tuesday. The Knights moved up two spots to No. 8 in the latest National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) and Continental Tire Poll.
Regionally, the Knights are atop of the NSCAA Central Region for the second-straight week, claiming the No. 1 spot this year for the first time since 2009. C-USA rival Memphis checks in at No. 7 while Rice and East Carolina tie for the No. 10 slot. SMU is also receiving votes.
UCF is the second-highest ranked program in the state of Florida as Florida State sits at No. 1. The NCAA RPI standings were also updated Tuesday and the Knights held firm at No. 15 as the highest rated C-USA member on the list.
As a team, the Knights rank among the top-35 programs in the country for goals-against average (No. 31; .542), shutout percentage (No. 33; .571) and save percentage (No. 33; .871). Within the conference, UCF paces the league in goals allowed (7), goals-against average and shutouts (7).
UCF continues its four-match homestand Friday when it faces Tulsa at 7 p.m. The Knights also host SMU on Sunday at 1 p.m.
