ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) - UCF forward Lena Petermann was chosen as the American Athletic Conference's Rookie of the Week for the third time in 2013 on Monday.

The Otterndorf, Germany, native helped UCF (10-2-1, 3-0-0) continue its unbeaten streak to nine-consecutive matches with two wins over the weekend against UConn and Temple, who both had claimed some of the league's top defenses.

Petermann notched the second multi-goal game of her career with the first and last goal of UCF's 4-1 win over UConn. She then started and played 48 minutes of UCF's 4-1 win over Temple, helping lift the Knights to a 3-0 record in American play -- their best start to a conference season since 2007.

Petermann previously was named Rookie of the Week on Sept. 9 after wins over North Florida and Middle Tennessee and again on Sept. 23 after a tie at No. 10 Georgetown and a shutout victory over Florida Gulf Coast.

Defender Ashley Nicol and midfielder Alex Piercy also received nods on The American honor roll for their efforts in the weekend's victories.

The Knights boast a league-best seven player of the week awards this year as Petermann has been recognized along with junior Carleigh Williams (defensive, Aug. 26 & Sept. 23), junior Tatiana Coleman (offensive, Sept. 9) and senior Marissa Diggs (defensive, Sept. 16).

The Knights head to Cincinnati on Oct. 11 at 4:30 p.m. before continuing their road trip to Louisville on Oct. 13 at 1 p.m.
