ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) - After helping their team win the American Athletic Conference regular season title, UCF women's soccer's Carleigh Williams (defensive) and Kayla Adamek (rookie) were named Players of the Week on Monday.
Williams picked up her third defensive honor of the season, also earning the award Aug. 26 and Sept. 23. She played all 180 minutes of UCF's two shutouts over the weekend to help the team extend its school-record unbeaten streak to 15 consecutive matches.
Adamek scored in back-to-back games for the Knights this weekend, including the game-winner - her third of the season - at SMU to deliver the Knights' first undefeated conference season since 1999. She finished the regular season as UCF's leading scorer in goals (6) and points (12) during conference play.
Forward Tatiana Coleman recognized, as well, earning a spot on the conference's honor roll.
UCF boasts a league-best 11 player of the week awards this year as the pair have been recognized with freshman Lena Petermann (rookie, Sept. 9, Sept. 23, Oct. 7, Oct. 14), senior Marissa Diggs (defensive, Sept. 16, Oct. 21) and Coleman (offensive, Sept. 9).
Thanks to a first-round bye from their No. 1 seed, the Knights will host their American Championship quarterfinal matchup at 1 p.m. on Nov. 3 against the winner of the SMU/Temple match being held at the UCF Soccer Complex on Nov. 1. Tickets are available for purchase now through UCFKnights.com.
