AMBLER, Pa. (UCFKnights.com) - Due to inclement weather, the UCF softball series at Temple was cancelled on Saturday night. The teams began the play on Saturday morning at 9:53 a.m. with the Knights holding a 3-0 lead on the Owls in the first before rain halted action 20 minutes later.

The rain in the Philadelphia area continued throughout the day and even more was forecasted for Sunday morning. With over two inches of rain failing as of Saturday evening, the Owls decided to cancel the series due to unplayable field conditions at the Temple Softball Stadium.

Originally, the contest was halted and the teams were going to try to resume at 10 a.m. on Sunday. Stats will not count and there is no makeup date for the American Athletic Conference series.

The highlight for the Knights was a three-run homer to right by sophomore first baseman Samantha McCloskey with two away in the top of the first.

Junior third baseman Farrah Sullivan and sophomore outfielder Mariah Garcia started the two-out rally with singles before the round tripper by McCloskey.

Following a double down the left field line by freshman shortstop Brittany Solis, a 1-0 count was facing sophomore designated player Jessica Ujvari with two outs when the rain halted play.

UCF travels to North Florida on Wednesday for a 4 p.m. contest in Jacksonville. Gametracker and subscription all-access audio can be found on the softball schedule page.
