ORLANDO, Fla. - After the Knights opened the season 3-0, junior pitcher Mackenzie Audas was selected as the inaugural American Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Week on Monday. She did not allow a run at the UCF Knights Invitational and notched victories over Kansas and Fordham.

The junior hurler combined to strikeout 17 opposing batters, including 10 against the Jayhawks. She came on in relief of sophomore Jamie Ujvari vs. the Rams and fanned seven over the final five innings at the UCF Softball Complex.

The Plant City, Fla., native notched four Conference USA Player of the Week honors before the Knights moved the American prior to the start of the 2014 campaign.

The 3-0 start for UCF is the second time in the past three years that the Knights have posted a perfect mark after the opening weekend. A mid-week matchup with North Florida is next on the slate with the first pitch on Wednesday set for 5 p.m.

The UCF/Holiday Inn Invitational begins on Friday with a doubleheader against Middle Tennessee and Delaware at 6 p.m. The six-team tournament starts at 9 a.m. with James Madison vs. Florida A&M.
