UCF Softball Faces Four Mid-Week Games

ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) - Due to the threat of inclement weather, UCF softball battles Marist at 2 p.m. before facing the Netherlands National Team on Monday at 6:30 p.m. at the UCF Softball Complex. The Knights complete the mid-week portion of their schedule on Tuesday with a doubleheader vs. Purdue and Iona at 1 p.m.

To celebrate St. Patrick's Day, be sure to pick up one of the "It's Your Luck Knight" T-shirts on Monday. There are 100 limited edition t-shirts available for each game involving the Knights.

All games can be watched with an UCF all-access subscription and Gametracker is available for each contest including the neutral-site matchup between Marist and the Netherlands at 1 p.m. on Monday.

The two contests involving the Netherlands National Team are considered exhibition games for the Knights and Marist.

The Knights enter the week with an 18-9 overall mark after upending No. 22 Notre Dame, 3-0, on March 13. Sophomore pitcher Shelby Turnier tossed a complete-game shutout with six strikeouts, while the UCF offense pushed across three runs in the first.

A big offensive boost for the Knights was provided by junior third baseman Farrah Sullivan, who drove in six runs last week.

The Netherlands are 11-1 on its Florida trip with the lone loss, 3-2, to rival USF on March 15. The Orange posted a 5-1 win over Baylor before defeating Central Connecticut State, 9-2, on March 16.

Marist has a 5-8 record with victories against Florida A&M (4-3), Bethune-Cookman (7-3), Norfolk St. (10-2) and N.C. Central (3-1, 6-1).

Purdue has recorded a 12-16-1 mark on the campaign, tallying notable wins over Texas (5-4), Virginia (13-3), Houston (5-2) and Central Michigan (2-0),

Iona has registered a 2-10 record with wins against Providence (4-1) and UMass (5-3).

These are the final games for the Knights before beginning American Athletic Conference play on Saturday against Memphis with a 1 p.m. doubleheader. It will be Jedi Knights Day at the UCF Softball Complex with a light saber and light saber umbrella giveaway for those dressing up as their favorite Star Wars character.
