ORLANDO, Fla. ( - After UCF Softball opened conference play with a series sweep of Memphis, junior outfielder Kahley Novak and sophomore pitcher Shelby Turnier were selected as the American Athletic Conference Player and Pitcher of the Week on Monday. The Knights welcome No. 1 Florida to the UCF Softball Complex on Wednesday at 6 p.m.

Turnier picked up her second pitcher of the week nod (3/10) with a 3-1 mark and 36 strikeouts in 23 innings of work. The Palm Beach Gardens native registered the first no-hitter in AAC history with a 1-0 shutout of Memphis in game one, where she fanned 11.

The UCF five-inning strikeout record was set by Turnier in the March 17 matchup with Marist. She tallied 11 strikeouts and yielded two hits in the contest.

In the 2-1 loss to Purdue, Turnier had a 39.1 inning shutout streak snapped, the longest in the NCAA this season, where she converted four shutouts and one combined shutout in a row. She managed to punch out 10 Boilermakers in the outing.

Novak compiled a .600 average with nine hits and seven runs scored for the Knights. She swiped six bases and added three multi-hit and two multi-RBI games.

The Clermont native went 5-for-9 in the series vs. Memphis and scored three times. Novak hit a double to lead off game three and scored following a sac bunt and sac fly to put UCF up early.

She tallied one of the Knights two hits against Purdue and scored the only run after swiping two bases. Novak was a perfect 2-for-2 with a walk and two stolen bases in the 11-0 five-inning rout of Marist.

Novak paces the AAC in stolen bases with 20. The Knights have totaled 83 stolen bases, ranking seventh nationally.

Junior pitcher Mackenzie Audas was the inaugural American Pitcher of the Week on Feb. 10 to open the season.
