UCF Softball Sweeps UTEP With 9-0 Win
Natalie Land hit a solo home run and the rest of the Knights' bats remained hot as the UCF softball team cruised to 9-0 win at UTEP in six innings.

ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) – The UCF softball team is set to host UTEP in a three-game series beginning with a Saturday doubleheader at 1 p.m. followed by an 11 a.m. Sunday contest. Before the first pitch on Saturday, the Knights (18-21, 1-11 Conference USA) will welcome the Friends of Jaclyn for a Spring Carnival that will consist of games where kids can have fun and win prizes.

The purpose of the Spring Carnival is to raise money for the Friends of Jaclyn, a foundation started in 2004 that works to improve the quality of life for children with pediatric brain tumors. The fundraising goal is $1000 and UCF plans to reach that goal through donations for carnival tickets. A five-dollar donation will yield 15 tickets that can be used to play games like the softball speed pitch challenge, a water dunk tank and a basketball scoring contest along with many others. Each game is a guaranteed winner providing a small prize for the participants. The best part of the entire day is they all carnival attendees get to watch the Knights take on the Miners (12-19, 1-7 C-USA) immediately following the festivities.

UCF fans can follow all of this weekend action on UCF All-Access with live video and audio with the voice of the Knights, Eric Lopez. Fans can also follow all three contests on UCFAthletics.com Gametracker as well as in-game updates on the Knights’ official Twitter account www.twitter.com/UCF_Softball.

The Black and Gold will play three of its six remaining home games at the UCF Softball Complex this weekend, with single-game tickets are available for purchase online at UCFAthletics.com and Ticketmaster.com, or by calling the UCF Athletics Ticket Office at 407-823-1000.
