ORLANDO, Fla. - After helping clinch UCF softball's first-ever regular season title, sophomore designated player Jessica Ujvari was selected as the American Athletic Conference Player of the Week on Monday.

In the sweep of the Huskies, Ujvari registered a pair of multi-hit games in a 5-for-7 performance. She drew three walks and was also plunked by a pitch to tally a .818 on-base pct.

The Pensacola native blasted her team-leading fifth homer of the season, a two-run shot, to give the Knights a 3-0 lead in the series finale. She compiled a 1.143 slugging pct. during the weekend at the UConn Softball Complex.

She added an RBI single in the first game, aiding UCF to a 7-4 victory.

The Knights captured the American Athletic Conference regular season title in the 3-0 game-two victory over the Huskies. It was the first regular season championship since head coach Renee Luers-Gillispie began the program in 2002.

Ujvari is the second-straight player of the week for UCF with junior Farrah Sullivan being honored on April 26. Junior second baseman Kahley Novak (3/24) was the first to earn the accolade.

For more weekly honors were picked up by the Knights pitching staff. Junior Mackenzie Audas (2/10, 4/14) and sophomore Shelby Turnier (3/10, 3/24) have each earned two awards.

UCF is the No. 1 seed in The American Championship with its first game slated for 5 p.m. Eastern against No. 8 UConn in Houston, Texas. The winner advances to Friday's 7:30 p.m. Eastern semifinal matchup against either No. 4 Houston or No. 5 Rutgers. The league announced that the championship game was picked up by ESPN2 and will be played at 4 p.m. Eastern on Saturday.
