ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) - While flying from Houston to Orlando, the UCF softball team learned that it earned a No. 2 seed at the NCAA Gainesville Regional that begins on Friday at 3:30 p.m. against No. 3 Stetson. The Knights earned their third at-large berth in to the NCAA Tournament and are making their fifth appearance, all at Katie Seashole Pressly Stadium.

"Our familiarity with the opponents and venue will provide us with confidence going into the regional," said head coach Renee Luers-Gillispie. "It is important for us to stay relaxed, focused and confident by staying in the moment and taking one pitch at a time."

Host Florida (45-11) was slotted with the fifth-overall seed and faces Florida A&M (24-27) in its first-round game.

The schedule for the regional is at the bottom of the page. All-session passes are $25 for adults and $10 for children 12 and under, students and seniors (55+). Single-day tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children 12 and under, students and seniors (55+). Tickets can be purchased on-line by clicking here.

The winner in the double-elimination bracket will face the team that conquers the Seattle Regional, which includes host Washington, Northwestern, BYU and Iona.

This is the fifth postseason appearance for the Knights, who also received at-large selections to Gainesville in 2010 and 2012. The Knights won the 2005 Atlantic Sun and 2008 C-USA Tournaments to earn the league's automatic bid.

UCF (41-16), the youngest team in the NCAA Tournament with only four juniors in its upper class, posted a 15-3 mark in the American Athletic Conference to win the program's first regular season championship.

Each of the teams in the all-Sunshine State regional have faced the Knights. UCF went 1-1 against Stetson, winning a 1-0 contest in Deland and falling 3-0 at home. The Knights posted a 1-0 win vs. Florida A&M in early February, and fell 10-6 to Florida in March at the UCF Softball Complex.

The Knights are one of 64 teams to earn a berth into the NCAA Tournament. There are 16 regionals that are played at campus sites beginning on Thursday.

The winner of each regional advances to play in the Super Regionals on May 22-25, which are also played at campus sites. The NCAA Women's College World Series is set for May 29-June 4 in Oklahoma City, Okla.
