ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - After a break of over a week, the UCF women's tennis team returned to the courts Friday where it took down Bethune-Cookman, 7-0, at the UCF Tennis Complex. The win improved the Knights' record to 2-1 on the season while the Wildcats fell to 0-2.
In the three doubles matches against B-CU, the Knights combined to surrender just five games. The No. 44-ranked duo of Genevieve Lorbergs and Courtney Griffith locked up the win at the No. 1 position, Alexis Rodriguez and Jenna Doerfler posted an 8-0 win at No. 2 and Andrea Yacaman and Taylor Dubins teamed up for a victory at No. 3.
With a 1-0 overall lead, UCF cruised through singles to secure the shutout. Doerfler, Josephine Haraldson and Allison Hodges all posted 6-0, 6-0 wins in their respective matches, and Lorbergs only allowed one game in her victory at the No. 2 spot.
Closing out the day, Griffith took down Andrea Paez at No. 4, 6-0, 6-3, and Rodriguez got past Katarina Szaboova at the No. 1 singles position, 6-2, 6-2.
UCF will not be back home until Feb. 25 as the Black and Gold embarks on a three-match road swing starting next weekend at Alabama (Feb. 12) and UAB (Feb. 13).
