NEW YORK, N.Y. ( - Erica Winstonrecorded a new personal best in the 800 meters as the No. 5 UCF track and field team wrapped up competition at the New Balance Collegiate Invitational on Saturday afternoon. Winston ran a time of 2:15.03 for 12th place in the college finals.

Sheila Paul and Dominique Bookeradvanced to the championship final in the 200 meters. Paul finished in eighth place with a time of 24.03 and Booker crossed the finish line in 12th place with a time of 24.32.

"Our performances were not as sharp as they should have been. We have to turn up our intensity in order to compete on the national scene," head coach Caryl Smith Gilbert said. "However, this weekend was also very positive in that we saw Dominique Booker and Aurieyall Scott run races and remain injury free. Jackie Cowardwas mentally able to overcome crushing the first hurdles in the preliminaries and automatically qualified for nationals. As a whole, we learned that we have to compete under any and all circumstances."

Tomika Storywas UCF's lone field performer of day two and recorded a leap of 12.32m/40-5 in the triple jump.

Up next, UCF will split between the Tiger Paw Invitational in Clemson, S.C., and the Tyson Invitational in Fayetteville, Ark., on Feb. 10-11.
