FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (UCFAthletics.com) - UCF sprinter Aurieyall Scott is on top of the world - literally. The junior's world-best time in the 200 meters Saturday headlined the No. 9 track and field team's performance at the Tyson Razorback Invitational at Arkansas.
For the second week in a row, Scott rewrote UCF's record book and maintained her reign atop the NCAA leaderboard with a new personal best 22.68, shaving nearly half a second off her former top mark. And she did it by besting the 2012 Bowerman Award winner, NCAA Track Athlete of the Year and NCAA 200m champion: LSU's Kimberlyn Duncan.
Sophomore Octavious Freeman won her heat with a near season-best time of 23.42 to finish fourth overall. Junior Dominique Booker finished second in her heat to Oregon standout English Gardner for an 11th-place showing of 23.94.
Scott also helped the 4x400 relay squad jump into the NCAA's top-20 standings with a season-best time of 3:37.78 for first place. She anchored a team that included Afia Charles, Sonnisha Williams and Ne'Ausha Logan.
As for the other Knights competing at the Tiger Paw Invitational at Clemson, freshman Anne-Marie Blaney highlighted the day with a third-place finish in the mile, crossing the finish line in 5:00.93.
Freshman Shemael Hamilton topped her personal record in the triple jump with a leap of 11.68m/38-04.
Sophomore Precious Ogunleye emerged as UCF's top finisher in the shot put with a seventh-place throw of 13.00m/42-08.
Saturday's production marked the end of the regular indoor season. The Knights will enjoy a break from action until Feb. 23-24 as they prepare for the Conference USA Championships looking to earn its fifth title since 2010.
