JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The UCF track and field team won seven events and set 10 personal records on Saturday afternoon at the North Florida Invitational. Sophomore Anne-Marie Blaney shattered the school record by more than a second in the 1500 meters with a time of 4:31.92 at Hodges Stadium.

In the running events, first-place finishes were tallied by sophomore Briana Vaughn in the 100 meters, senior Afia Charles in the 400 meters and Blaney in the 1500 meters. The 4x100 relay team of senior Jen Clayton, sophomore Christal Peterson, freshman J'Nea Bellamy and Vaughn also finished with a top time of 44.80.

Clayton paced the field events with a long jump of 6.42m/21-00.75 (-0.1), the second-longest mark of her career. Freshman Siaina Campbell won the javelin at 39.07m/128-02, while a first-place throw of 14.13m/46.04.25 was tallied by senior Destinee Romain.

Setting the freshman record in the pole vault was Paige Byrnes, eclipsing a personal-best height of 3.67m/12-00.50.

The 100 meters was led by Vaughn at 11.50(+1.8), but career highs were recorded by Bellamy (11.55 (+1.8)), Peterson (11.68 (+1.8)) and freshman Brittany Barber (12.18 (+2.2 - wind aided)).

After the school-record time by Blaney in the 1500 meters, sophomore Caroline Pauls added a personal-best time of 4:51.05.

In the 800 meters, junior Amelia Williams record a career-best time of 2:13.15 to finish third.

For the first time this season, Charles ran the 400 meters and took the event with a mark of 54.27. A career-best time of 54.90 was added by freshman Ashley Jocelyn, who placed second.

A wind-aided top mark of 13.87 (+2.4) was notched by junior Devinn Cartwright in the 100 hurdles. Senior Sandy Jean posted a season-best mark of 59.67 in the 400 hurdles

Setting a new personal record in the hammer throw was Romain with a toss of 55.45m/181-11.

The Knights now set their sights on the American Athletic Conference Outdoor Championships on May 2-4 in Tampa, Fla.
