ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - The UCF track and field team is proud to announce the addition of Megan Patterson (Pueblo, Colo.) and Anne-Marie Blaney (Ocala, Fla.) to the Knight family. Patterson, a thrower, and Blaney, a distance runner, have signed national letters of intent and will join UCF in the fall of 2012.

"Megan is a very high-profile athlete, and I think it speaks volumes about UCF when we can attract those kinds of athletes," UCF throws coach Jeff Chakouian said. "She is very dedicated to working hard and she is very gifted athletically. We're really happy she chose UCF and we are looking forward to what she will accomplish in her senior year of high school."

Patterson is a two-time state shot put champion and ranks as the fifth-best shot-putter in the nation in the 2012 class. She is also a starter on Pueblo South's girls basketball team, which ranks third in the state of Colorado.

Blaney is the daughter of former University of Florida cross country and track All American Mike Blaney. She is a three-time district champion and placed three times at the FHSAA cross country state championships.

"Anne-Marie is someone who loves to run and is a competitor," UCF distance and cross country coach Paul Brown said. "We take pride in recruiting Florida's finest athletes, and we are thrilled that someone as talented as she is chose UCF. She will add tremendous depth to our cross country and distance corps."
